Jørgensen is a media scholar with focus on game studies, and is particularly interested in aspects related to understanding games, players and the relationship between them. Jørgensen received her PhD in media studies from University of Copenhagen in 2007 on a thesis on how players understand game sound. She is the author of A Comprehensive Study of Sound in Computer Games (Mellen Press 2009), Gameworld Interfaces (MIT Press 2013), and co-editor of Transgressions in Games and Play (MIT Press 2018).
